TEMUKA
(from our own correspondent.) The Rev. Father -Gogfran has returned to Temuka from his trip to the north, where he went on a visit for the benefit of bis health. He* is greatly improved, and hopes in a short time to be restored to perfect health. The membership of the Catholic Club^is steadily increasing, showing thai the work of the "older mem•bters is tearing good fruit. On Tuesday, August 6, the programme consisted of a delate, ' Should the Chinese be excluded from Australasia ?' The leaders were :— Affirmative, Messrs. T. Knight, P. Mitten, and Z. - Beri ; negative, Rev. Father Kerley, Messrs. Polaschelc and J. Scott. After an interesting debate the former side won by two votes. On August 13, the evening was devoted to music and impromptu speeches. The Rev. Fa-ther Bell, "who had assisted Rev. Father Kerley during the absence of Father Goggan, intends leaving Temuka on Friday. About 30 children attending St. Joseph's School received their First Communion on Thursday morning. '
