DIOCESE OF DUNEDIN
A vicry successful euchre tournament, under the auspices of the Hibernian Society, was held in St. Joseph's Hall on Tuesday evening. A number of aspirants were enrolled in the Confraternity of the Children of Mary at St. Joseph's Cath.edral on Sunday evening. The Rev. Father Coffey, Adm. officiated 1, and was assisted by the Rev. Father Corcoran. We desire again to remind our readers that the annual collection on behalf of -the St. Vincent de Paul Society takes place on Sunday at St. Joseph's Cathedral, the Sacred Heart Church (NorMw-east Valley), and St. Patrick's Ba^lica (South Dunedin). In connection with the anniversary of the death of Bishop Moran a Solemn Pontifical Requiem Mass was celebrated in St. Joseph's Cathedral on Monday. His Lordship the Bishop was oeleb>ramt>, Rev. Father Cleary assistant priest, Rev. Father O'Reilly deacon, Rev. Fatter Corcoran subdeacon, and Rev. Father Coffey, Adm., master of ceremonies. The solemn music was sung by the choir of the Dominican nuns. The business at the meeting of the St. Joseph's Ladies' Club on Wednesday evening was of a practical character, when the dressmaking class Was in full working order. Many of the members took advantage of ,the lessons', and for two hours were engaged in sewing and learning the mysteries of cutting out. This class should prove of great benefit to the memlbers, and all are encouraged to bring their sewing and help to make their club evenings pass in a useful as well as an enjoyable way.. The St.- Joseph's Harriers held their run on Saturday at Burkes as the guest® of Mrs. Kielligher. The weather was rather •inclement, but did not affect the attendance. A winding course was taken to the tipp of the hills. The descent was exciting, especially to the heavyweights, for the steep grade and greasy ground produced a lot of unlooked-for siting. "The road was reached a little on the town side of Sawyer's Bay, and was then followed home. Tbe runners were hospitably entertained by Mrs. Keligher. and a very pleasant social hour was spent. The ceremony of Profession and Reception took place at the Convent of Mercy, South Dunedin; on Tuesday morning, when Miss Alice Davies, Lyttelton (in religion Sister M. Francis) was professed, and. Miss Tessy Minihan, Reef ton (Sister M. Paul), and Miss Aniiie Kerr Woodlands (Sister Bernardine) were received. The ceremony was performed by his Lordship the Bishop assisted by the Rev. Father Howard and Rev. Father Kavomig'h. .
