TIMARU
(From our own correspondent.) May 7. The' Sacred Heart choir ga 1 c a most enjoyable concert to the Hospital patients recently. Songs were con- . tributed by Mesdames Lynet and Skdnner, and Misses Jefferson and ..Jordan. Mrs. Mangos organised the entertainment, and presided at the piano. The Forty Hours' A'doratiou commenced at the eleven o'clock Mass on Sunday. In the evening Very Rev. Dean Regnault, of Waimate, preached an impressive ser- ' mon on ' Indifferentism ' to a crowded congregation. Rev. Father Hoare preached on Monday night, and Rev. Father Tubman gave the PapaJ Blessing. During the devotions large numbers approached the Holy Table. The devotions were brought to a close this morning. - Mrs. Mangos, who for many years has occupied the position of organist in our parish church, owing to pressure of work, handed in her resignation some twelve months, ago. Great difficulty was. experienced in getting a successor, and it was only within the past month that the position was filled. Mrs. Mangos is an organist of exceptional ability, and ranks perhaps as the leading musician of this- town, and her loss will be severely felt by the choir and con- - gregation. She has always been ready to sacrifice herself for everything; that helped towards the welfare of the -parish, and it is a matter of congratulation that she is not severing her connection with parochial work.
