(From an occasional correspondent.) .Mr. H. P. Madden represented the local branch of the Hibernian Society- at the District Meeting. ■ Messrs. S. Madden "and D. McDonnell have been chosen to represent the Ashburton Society at the annual conference of the ' Federated Catholic . Young Men's Societies, to be held at Ohristohurch .during Easter week, . . . The St. Patrick's Day S_ports Association held its annual gathering oui March 21 in the Domain. . The weather was 1 fine, and titoere was a laax . attendance. There were some very close finishes, and, on the whole, the proceedings passed off most satisfactorily. 'A very enjoya/ble euchre tournament, given by the Literary Society, was held in the club rooms on Thursday, Mar*h 7. There was a large attendance of members and lady friends. Miss Brophy was the winner of the ladies' and Mr. T. O' Carroll "of the gentlemen's prize.
