' evening, November 4. A musical" treat of exceptional merit is expected. . Miss Goleta Lorrigaii," of St. Choir, Auckland, has taken up an important . position with Mr. C. W. Ross of _this town,- and we may shortly look forward to her service in choir matters. The devotions of the Forty Hours' Adoration will begin- in St. Patrick's -Church on Sunday, November 4. Special sermons will be preached- by priests fromother districts in the Archdiocese, and there is every probability of the Very , Rev. Father Lewis, V.G., preaching at High Mass on Sunday. Visitors to, the Manawatu A. and P. Society's Show held on October, ,31 and -November ,1 and 2, will find the. entries quite up-to-date, and in* some instances stronger , than ever before,, in spite of the strong coun-ter-attraction offered by "the big show inChristchurch. The following are the . totals to date : Horses, 582 ; cattle, 216 ; sheep, 508 ; dogs, 330 ; pigs, 61 ; poultry, 110; schools' art and .industrial- classes, 774,\ and photography. 130. The dairy class, with 33 entries, will ' be a particularly good one., "and marks a distinct advance. There are a number of special features this year. For- instance, Highland cattle^ to the number of 5, will be exhibited for" the first time.
