* (Prom an occasional correspondent.) Tbe^'anniual convent school concert and spectacular display tofc)k place in the Aihonateum Hall on" Thursday evening, and was one of the most successful, financially and artistically, that ijave been given. The hall was packed to the doors, 'and a sum of £35 was netted. As .usual -the various items on the programme were splendidly given, and -gave testimony to ths skill and patience of the nuns in bringing their pupils to such, a high state of efficiency. The chorus, ' Merrily - over the ocean,' by the, pupils was capitally sung, and evolutions by the boys and fairy revels by ih'e kindergarten were gone thnou-gK with a precision that "spoke volumes for the careful training of the children In the second part the club swinging, with choral accompaniment, was splendidly done. - The various piano duets by" the ' Misses F.-Perriam and f J. Thomas, "Ida and G. Morris, Martha! and" ivy Mitchell, A. Williams' and Ivy Mitchell, Kathleen Thomas and Ivy Mitchell, were well .played, and gave evidence of careful tuition; as did the piano -trio by the Misses Mitchell (3)..^, The glee,: ' The white thorn,-' by the Young Ladies' "Club was much appreciated, the solos b^' the "Misses :Annie " McNulty and Kathleen Thomas being exceedingly well sung- A seriocomic drama in three acts, entitled ' A Domestic Syn^ d'icate,' was played! the characters r 'being sustained by Misses '-CahJH; 1 Maud and .Martha 0 Mitchell, Kathleen _ Thomas, .^ Frances _ Thomas, Annie McNulty, " Sarah McNulty, and Frances Richards. All were letter perfect and sustained, their respective . roles admirably, a .special meed" of' praise, however, being due to Miss Annie McNulty, for her splendid impersonation of Polly. GrubH-tiais, particularly as she had only a week to- study her part. During the interval Father Hunt thanked all who had rendered such- good services -in making the evening's entertainment such an" unqualified success, .and specially thanked ■ Miss McNulty for the admirable - manner . she had filled her role at such short' notice,' and Mr. J. Perriam,' who had generously lent the use of a splendid new .p/iano. Miss Mafja;ie Oahill, as accompanist, ac- • quitted herself in her- usually artistic manner.
