(From our own correspondent.) July 15. St. Patrick's Literary aKd Debating Society held a very successful social evening on Thursday. The orchestra appeared for the first time, giving several enjoyable items, which were much appreciated. The last game of the Friendly Societies card tournament was played on Tuealay evening, when the H A C.B. Society proved the winners. The tournament ended in favor of the Druids who were one point ahead of the Hibernians. The half-yearly meeting of the H.A.C.B. Society was held on Monday • evening, there .being a large attendance of members; .including visitors from tlie Christchurch and Tinoaru branches. The following officers were elected :— President, Br o . J. Sims (re-elected) ■ vice-president, -Bro. J. Carrigg ; secretary, 'Bro "- J Hickey (re-elected) ; treasurer, Bro. M.
