Messrs. Donald Reid and Co. (Limited) report :—

We heM our weekly auction sale of grain and produoe at our stores on Monday. Oar catalogue waa a small one, including feed oata, fowl wheat, potacoes, and chaff. There was a good attendance of buyers, and under brisk competition the catalogue, with the exception of a few lots of medium chaff, was cleared at quotations. Prices ruled as under :—: — Oats. — Owing to the fact that weather conditions have been far from favorable for threshing, very few new oats have been coming forward. Good to best feed lines have more attention from shippers, but as the local market is almost bare, most consignments are going into consumption here at prices which show a slight im. provement on late quotations. Prime milling lines have more at. tention, and lots suitable for this trade are readily quitted for direct consignment. Quotations : Prime milling, le lid to 181 8 Hid ; good to best feed, Is 9£d to Is lO^d ; inferior to medium, Is 8d to Is 9d per bushel (sacks extra). Wheat.— Prime Tuscan iB in most favour with millers, but oil sorts in good condition have more attention, and are saleable at slightly better pricea, Fowl wheat, although in most oases rathor beyond shippers' limits, has good sale locally. Quotations : Prime milling TuEcan, 3s 2£d to 3s 4d ; other sorts, 3s 2£i to 3s 3^ 5 medium to good, 3s Id to 3s 2d ; whole fowl wheat, 2s lid to 3a . broken and damaged, 2s 8d to 2s lOd per bushel (sacks extra) . ' Potatoes. — The market continues to be moderately supplied All Borts prime and free from blight are in stronger demand, pa r

tioular attention being paid to choice lines of Up-to-dates suitable for seed. Quotations : Best white sorts, £9 15s to £10 ; speoially B eleoted, £10 10a to £11 ; beat Derwentß, £9 10s to £10 ; medium. £8 15a to £9 5s ; inferior, £7 10s to £8 10s per ton (bags extra). Chaff.— Last week's wet weather retarded cutting operations, and in consequence the market was not heavily supplied. The demand is entirely confined to prime oaten sheaf, other aorts being at present quite neglected. Quotations : Prime oaten sheaf, £3 5s to £3 10s ; choice old chaff, to £3 12s 6d ; medium to good, £3 to £3 5s ; inferior, £2 5s to £2 15s per ton ton (bags extra). Straw.— The market is poorly supplied, and for both oaten and wheaten there is good inquiry at improved prices.
