Pointing the Moral
A moral lies on the surface of the sad story of the recent comiction and imprisonment of an Australian solicitor who enjoyed the confidence of his Catholic coreligionists till the gambling mainia set its grip upon his souL The moral may, perhaps, be best set forth in the quaint language of ' Pudd'niiead Wilson's New Calendar 1 : ' There are two times in a man's life when he should not speculate : when he can't afiord it, ai.d when he can. 1
