In addressing the meeting Very Rev. He thanked Father Chine for tihe enthusiasm shown in bringing siuch a large body of men together, and trusted Uiat the branch woulll be a great sliccess He then called on Mr. Callaghan, of the Newtown (Welli,ng|tpn) branch, to explain the objects and benefits of the Slociety. Mr. Callaghan explained t|he various details 1 a.nd ni'ode of manageonemt, and statell txhait he had never belore seen such a large number present at an inaugural meeting, and expressed the hofte that the branch would be flOiimded before tftie present year expired. Mr. A. B. Clark was them elected secretary, prp. tern, and 51 of those present handed, in t,heir names as intending members. At a second meeting there wae a gaoil attendance to hear the secretary's report and sign ihe requisition. The sura of £5 13s was received as nomination and life honorary members' tees, and the necessary steps were taken to have the branch established. Rev. Father La/ne intimated that he would be pleased to place a site at the disposal of the society for tihe purpose ot erecting a hall, a remark which was received witti great enthusiasm. Votes of thanks weire passed to Rev. Father Chme for his efl'orts in organising tAie meeting ; to Very Rev. Father Lane for his generosity in ofreritag a sLte ; to Mr. Callaghah for attending the meeting at great inconvenience to himself, and tp Mr. A. B^Clai^k for Ins services as acting secretary.
