The halt j early ineefing of St Patrick's branch of the II \(' B Society (\vr les a Reefton uurespondcnl) took l>lace on Wednesday evening, July 27, when a large number ol members were piesent Tbe election for the \arious offices tor the ensuing torru Mas very keenly contested, and resulted as follows —President, Bio C "Me Manns ; \ ice-ptesident , Bio B Muldoon , guardian, Bio Feehan; warden, Bio. JM Aluldoon ; treasurer, Bio. O'Brien; sectetary. Bio. Carroll ; auditors, Bros Nevin and Moms The newlv-clec ted officers were installed by the let n ing president, Bro. M OWlalley. After the close ot the meeting the members and their friends* assembled m the Theatre Royal, when' a very enjoyable evening was spent. Supper was provided by the members of the branch. The iollowing contributed items • Song, ' Kate O'Shanc,' Mr. T. Brady ; duet, ' How sad it is to say fatewell,' Mr T. Phillips and Carroll ; song, "The mansion of aching hearts, 1 Mr W Power ; song, ' Out on the deep,' Mr. E. Potts ; duet, ' In the dusk of the twilight,' Miss E. Carroll and Aliss K. Carroll , song, ' I fear no foe,' Mr. T. Phillips ; soncr, (' Out on the rocks,' Miss Wicks ; song, * Absence makes the heart grow fonder,' Mr. A. Carroll. The accompaniments were played by the Misses Carroll,, McGilhcuddy, Walshe, and McNamara.
