(From our own correspondent.) August 1. A concert 'was held in Rev. Mr. Farley's gjrain shed, St. Andrews*, on Thursday evening last, the proceeds gomgi to pay off the interest cm the debt of tiie new Catiholic church which was erected in the district some eighteen months ago. The evening wa-s a fine one and tjhetre was a Jarge audience to enjoy the attractive programme presented. Items were cont rib.utcjd by Mrs. Jeffetnies, Mrs. Ljvnclt. Miss E. McKininiue^, Miss Darl, an;d Messrs Jeffenes, Coombs, Ilawkete, MtaDonald' Chapman, Healey, Walker, and Sullivan. Rev. Father Tubman returned tthanks to the performers and to the oi.dicnce, sipecmlly mentioning Mr. aiiid Mns. Jefferies, who had come from Temiuka. He considered that such sjocUl gatherings wete proiductiive of mu£h goV>d in breaking, the monotony of country life and rounding off the sharp cortiers which individuals and families sometimes acquire through lack of sufficient social intercourse, lie c'oncl,ude/i with a complimentary refe'rencc to Rev. Mr. Farley, who had put his gram riliod at tlheiir dispersal free of oast. The procetids amoiunted to £20, and the organisers of the entertainment, especiMe c isrs Wilson, O'Connor, and O'Loug'hhn, deserve every Ciejdit for the satisfactory way ln^which everything passed off.
