ORMOND
(From an occasional correspondent.) On Wednesday, December 2, his Lorda(hip Bishop Lpmihja/n, accompanied by Rev. Fatihers Benedict, O.P , Lane, and Buckley, visited St. Patrick's School, Ormond,, where the Sisters of Morcy, Gis borne, have a branch convent. The pupils had prepared a short programme, which was gone through in a very creditable way. It opehed with a chorus, ' Welcome,' after which the following address was read by Miss N. Harper :— To the Right Rev. Dr. Lemihan, D.D., Bisihop of Auckland. May it please your Lordship,— We, the children of St. Patrick's School, Ormond, rejoice to bid you* an affectionate welcome tto our school. It is your first visit to us and we are glad of the opportunity afforded to express our confidence and. love in your fatherly care. We wish in a special manner to thank your Lordship from our hearts for the vigilant care evinced in sending vis a resident -priest to minister to our spiritual wants. We assure your Lordship we heartily appreciate this blessing and we shall not forget when assisting at holy Mass to pray God to reward you for afEording us the same. We beg your Lordship to accept the accompanying tribute of our affection, and we pray that you 'may erufoy many years of heoiltti and happiness We have tihe honor to remain, your affectionate children, the children of St. Patrick's School, Ormond The children then presented his Lordship with a hamdsome satin sachet well filled with silk handkerchiefs A capital musical programme was then performed His Lordship, in addressing the children, thanked them for the hearty reception they had given him, also for the address and presentation, and reminded them of the debt of gratitude they owed to the Sifters, a\lio had sacrificed 'home and friends in order to teach thean the wiay to heaven and who were more tha,n ea/rthly mothers to them. His Lordship and priests tihen usited the convent. On the following; Sunday 45 children received first Holy ComnVunion and were confirmed in the afternoon.
