ARCHDIOCESE OF WELLINGTON.

(From our own correspondent.) July 12. The opening of the new organ at St. Mary of the Angels' will talce place on the 19th inst , when his Grace the Archbishop will dedicate the instrument. Solemn High Mass will be celebrated on that occasion. On the following Sunday the church and new schoolroom at JNewtowtn will be blessed and opened by his Grace. At the half-yearly meeting of the female branch of the Hibernian Society, held at St. Patrick's Hall on Wednesday last, the following officers were elected: President, Sister I). O'Flaherty ; vice-president, Sister A. Hearn ; secretary, Sister K. L. Robinson ; treasurer. Sister A. Grant ; warden, Sister E. Hicks ; guardian, Sister N. Trainer. By resolution the secretary was instructed to send a letter to the District-President, Hon. W. Beehan, congratulating him on his appointment to the Legislative Council, and expressing the hope that he may live long to enjoy the high distinction conferred on him. ...The annual social in aid of the Home for Incurables in charge of the Sisters of Compassion, took place at the Drillshed on Wednesday evening last, and was an unqualified success, the building being crowded Among those present were his Grace the Arrhbishop. all the local clergy, Mr. and Miss Soddon, and many other leading citizens. A very attractive programme of music and recitations was given in an excellent manner by the following ladies and gentlemeta : Misses Sullivan, Pulsford, Moran, Redmond, and Stidolph, Messrs. Hendrv and De Vine. The Garrison Band played a selection. The dance music was supplied by Minifies orchestra. A largo tent adjoining the Drillshed had been erected, where supper was served by the Sisters and the ladies of the different parishes. Thanks are due to the committee, who were untiring in their efforts to please all. The institution will benefit to the amount of about £200 by the social.

The marriage of Mr. M. Gibbs, fourth son of the late Mr. James Gibbs, to Miss Frances Creuse, was celebrated at the Church of the Sacred Heart on Tuesday last The Very Rev. Father Lewis, V.G., performed the ceremony. The bride was attired in cream serge and wore a wreath and veil. The bridesmaids, the Misses E. and M. Vincent, Misses A. McDonald and A. Gibbs, nieces of the bridegroom, wore white muslin dresses, white felt hats, and carried shower bouquets. The bridegroom's present to the bride was a gold watch, and to the bridesmaids gold brooches set with pearls and rubies. Mr. J. Smith was best man. and Mr. A. McDonald acted as groomsman. After the ceremony a reception was held at the residence of Mrs. Stevenson. Murphy street. The honeymoon is being spent in Australia.
