Mr. John Hanley, of Waihao, South Canterbury, has presented to the local Catholic church a section of two acres of land to be used as a cemetery for the sole use of the Catholics of the district. All legal conditions 1 in connection with Mr. Hanlev's generous gift have been completed, and the following board of management has been gazetted : Messrs. Michael Corrigan (chairman), Donald Kennedy (secretary), John Hanley, John Mortiss, and Maurice Leonard, jun. The board has already held a couple of meetings, at which it Was decided to enclose und improve the grounds. His Lordship Bishop Grimes will consecrate the cemetery in a short time. One interment has already taken place in the new ceme-^ iery, the remains of the late Miss Margaret Hanley, daughter of Mr. Patrick Hanley, being buried there.
