The object of the Marist Fathers in this country, as in their colleges in Europe and America, is to impart to their pupils a thoroughly Religious and a sound Literary education, which will enable them in after-life to discharge their duties with honour to Religion &nd Society, and with credit and advantage to themselves Students are prepared for the N.Z. University Junior and Senior Civil Service, Medical Entrance, Solicitors' General Knowedge, Bank and all other Public Examinations. Students not preparing for the learned Professions have the advantage of a Special Commercial Course, under effioient management, where they are taught all that will be of use in mercantile pursuits. Special attention iB also paid to the teaching of Physical Science, for which purpose the College posaesses a large Laboratory and Demonstration Hall. Vocal Music, Elocution, Drawing, aud all other branches of a Liberal Education reo ive due attention. Physical culture is attended to by a competent Drill Instructor, who trains the students three times a week in Drill, Rifle Praotioe and Gymnastics. A large and well-equipped Gymnasium is attached' to the College. The religious and moral training of the pupils is an object of special oare, and particular attention is bestowed on the teaching of Christian Doctrine. A well-appointed Infirmary attached to the College is tinder the charge of the Sisters of Compassion, from whom in case of illness all students receive the most tender and devoted oare, and who at all times pay particular attention to the younger and more delicate pupils, who without such oare would find the absence of home comforts very trying.
