London, January 20. — The first series of colonial wool sales for the current year opened with brisk bidding. Prices ruled from par to 10 per cent, advance on closing sales of last \ear. There was a good attendance, including many Americans. There was spirited eoranctition for till sorts. Compared with the closing sales of the December series, merinos were unchanged, and merino lambs advanced 5 per cent. Fine crossbreds advanced 5 per cent , medium 10 per cent , and lambs 10 per cent. Sydney, January 21 — At the wool sales the competition for all good classes was very keen. Prices were firm. Scoured sold up to 25d — a record for the season. Napier, January 21. — At the wool sales to-day a catalogue of 6300 bales was offered Prices were in sympathy with the advance in the London market, and ruled from 10 to 15 per cent, higher than la-st sale's rates. Amongst the buyers were three representati\ es of Continental firms. The advance was general in all crosses except for halfbred parcels, the rougher and coarser wools benefiting most. Merinos sold up to 9d ; good quality halfbred, up to Bsd ; coarse crossbred, in

light condition, up to 6d ; fair average quality, up to 5Jd ; dingy crossbred, up to s£d. London, January 21.— The wool sales have been postponed owing to the fog. At the tallow sales 1125 casks were offered and 625 sold Mutton : fine, 36/3 ; medium, 32/6, Beef : fine. 35/9 ; medium, 31/6. London^ January 22.— Competition is brisk in all classes. Prices are firm at opening rates. London January 23.— The Bradford wool market is quiet, but firm and unchanged. At the London sales the following, amongst other clips, were sold :— Tekaro, B^d ; Abbotsford. B*d ; Poukawa, B§d. London, January 23.— At the wool sales crossbreds and good merinos were firm. Faulties sold in buyers' favor ; some lots were withdrawn
