Messrs Donald Reid and Co. (Limited) report as follows :—: — We held our weekly auction sale of grain and produce at our stores on Monday, when we submitted a ie^resentathe catalogue to a full attendance of buyers Under moderate competition, the bulk of this was cleared at quotations Prices ruled as under :—: — Oats — There is a fair demand for prime milling and bright feed lines. For the latter sorts, howe\er, shippers arc not so keen, except to supply actual orders. Medium and discolored lots, although not offering very freely, have little attention Quotations Prime milling, 2s 8d to 2s 9d ; good to best feed, 2s 6d to 2s 8d ; medium, 2s 3d to 2s Gd : inferior and discolored, Is 9d to 2s 2d pe,rt bushel (sacks extra). Wheat — The demand for prime milling qual ty is being supplied almost exclusively from the north, local stocks being not sufficiently sound to come into this class For medium quality there is no inquiry, and sales arc difficult to effect, even at a reduction on late quotations Fowl wheat is offering more plentifully, nnd moves off slowly at prices a shade below late values. Quotations : Prime milling velvet, 5s 6d to 5s 9d ; do Tuscan and red wheat, 5s to 5s 6d : good milling, 4s 8d to 4s lid ; medium, 4s 5d to 4s 7d ; best whole fowl wheat, 4s Id to 4s 4d ; broken and damaged, 3s to 4s per bushel (sacks extra). Potatoes — Heavy supplies of new kidneys have come forward. These have been much in excess of the local demand, and prices have suffered in consequence,. Best newly-dug kidneys are worth £4 5s to £4 15s ; others, £4 to £4 5s per ton (bags in). Chaff— During the past week heavier consignments have come in. Many of these are of prime quality, for which there has been steady demand lately Medium sorts have only been saleable at a slight reduction in prices, and even prime quality has suffered to the extent of 2s 6d to 5s per ton Quotations : Prime, oaten sheaf. £5 to £5 10s : medium to good, £4 to £4 15s ; inferior and straw chaff, £2 10s to £3 15s per ton (bags extra).
