OBITUARY.

MBB. O'SULLIVAN, SYDNEY. Rev Father O'Sullivan (telegraphs oar Wanganui correspond dent) received a cab'e message from Sydney annqunoing the death of hiH mother at the age of 76 yean. The deceased lady Was born at Bridgetown. County Clare, Ireland, and had lived for the lost 53 yearß in Sydney, her hasb.md having predeceased her by a little over a year. On Tuesday, December 2, a Solemn R< quiem Mass for the repose of her goal was celebr.it*d here by the Very Rmv. Fa h r Power (Hawera), Rev. Faihers O'Shea (Eltbam) and O'Sullivan being deacon and sub-deacon respectively. Very Rev* Dean Kirk, Rev. Fathers Soulas (Jerusalem), Tymon? (Pal aietston North), and McGrath (I'&ten) were present in the sanctuary. The choir rendered in a devotional manner the sol mv music appropriate to sach an occasion. Despite the somewhat iaoonveuient hour, eight o'clock, a large number of parishioners assembled to express, in the best manner possibl , tluir sympathy with Father O'Sullivan, and numerous mesnagtß of oondolenoe were received by him /root hie mar y friends in various parts of the Colony.— B.l.P. The many friends of Captain and Mrs Berneeh, both in Dnnedin and in other parts of the Colony, will hear with sinoere regret of the death of their younger-t daughter, Frances, who passed away on the 26th ult., after a long illness. The deceased, who was only in her likh ytar, was a general favorite, her amiable disposition having endeared her to her acquaintances. On Saturday morniDg the remains were taken to St. Joseph's Cathedral, when a Solemn Requiem Mass was celebrated by the Rev. Father Murphy, Adm., the Rev. Father P. O'Neill being deacon, and Rev. Father O'Malley subdeacon. The funeral took place ia the afternoon, when a large number of mourners followed the remains to the Southern Cemetery where the interment took place.
