The object of the Marist Fathers in this country, as in their colleges in Europe and America, is to impart to their pupils a thoroughly Religious and a sound Literary education, which will enable them in after-life to discharge their duties with honour to Religion t»nd Society, and with credit and advantage to themselves Students are prepared for the N.Z. University Junior and Senior Civil Service, Medical Entrance, Solicitors' General Enowledge, Bank and all other Public Examinations. Students not preparing fdr the learned Professions have the advantage of a Special Commercial Course, nnder efficient management, where they are taught all that will be of use in mercantile pursuits. Special attention is also paid to the teaching of Physical Science, for which purpose the College possesses a large Laboratory and Demonstration Hall. Vocal Mubic, Elocution, Drawing, and all other branches of a Liberal Education receive due attention. Physical culture is attended to by a competent Drill Instructor, who trains the students three times a week in Drill, Rifle Practice, and Gymnastics. A large and well -equipped Gymnasium is attached to the College. The religious and moral training of the pupils is an object of special care, and particnlar attention is bestowed on the teaching of Christian Doctrine. A well-appointed Infirmary attached to the College is under the charge of the Sisters of Compassion, from whom in case of illnesß all students receive the most tender and devoted care, and who at all times pay particular attention to the younger and more delicate pnpils, who without Buch care would find the absence of home comforts very trying. For Terms, etc., apply to THE RECTOR rFHE PROVINCIAL ECCLESIASTICAL SEMINARY A OF NEW ZEALAND. HOLY CROSS COLLEGE, MOSGIEL. In conformity with arrangements made at the First Provincial Synod, held in Wellington in 189P this Seminary has been established for the education of Students from all parts of New Zealand who aspire to the Ecclesiastical State. The Holy Cross College is situated at Mosgiel (10 miles from Dunedin) in a fine building hitherto known as Mosgiel House, which, with 11 acres of rich park land surrounding it, was purchased for use as a Seminary for the Ecclesiastical Province of New Zealand. The Pension is £35 a year, payable half-yearly in advance It provides for Board and Lodging, Tuition, School Books, Furniture, Bedding and House Linen. The Extra Charges are : Washing, £1 10s a year, and Medicine and Medical Attendance if required. Students will provide their own wearing apparel, including the College Gown, as well as Surplice for assistance in Choir The Annual Vacation begins on the 15th December and ends the 15th February.
