WANGANUI.
(From our own correspondent.) Navember H. His Graoe the Archbishop came to Wanganui at the end of last v?e.-k on his episcopal visitation of the parish, and on Sunday, November 9, administered the Sacrament of Confirmation to about 130 candidates, amongst whom wpre some 13 converts. Prior to the Mass on Sunday morning his Grace performed the usual ceremonies connected with an episcopal visi Ution. Rev. Father Laoroix, of Mangawpka, sang the Mass, the musical portion of which (Haydn's No. 1 was chosen for th 3 ooca-non) was rendered by the choir in a finished and devotional manner. His Grace, prefatory to addressing the candidates for Confirmation, spoke feelingly about the health of the Very Rev. Dean X rk, referring to the many good works he had accomplished during his long administration of the parish, and exp» eased the earnest h >pc that the Catholics of Wan^anui would have the benefit of his ministrations for many years to come. Solemn Vespers were sung by the Rev. Father Lacroix on Sunday ev< msg, when special munic was rendered by the choir, notably Zmgarelli's ' Leudate pueri,' in which Mr D. Geliately took the polo parts. Hia Grace again preaohed aa eloquent 6erinon to a veiy lan?e congregation, fiom the text, 'Oome ye blossed of My Father, possess you the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world ' (Mdtth. xxv., 34) His Grace the Archbiahop left for Palmerston North on Tuesday.
