DUNEDIN HORSE SALEYARDS. Messrs Wr.ight, Stephenson, and Co. report as follows :—: — The attraction for this week's salo was Mr Walter Thurlow'a team of eight draught mares and geldings from Cambrians, Central Otago, and a consignment of three unbroken draught colts and a lilly from the. Cor.storph.me Estate The Central Otago team comprised just a useful lot of draughts, stiaig-ht out of hard work, and consequently m rather low condition, but, m spite o f this, they fetched prices almost on a par with what wu ha\e been accustomed to see a much superior class of horses, realising. The team sold as followsi :—: — Bay gelding, 4yrs (medium draught) £48 10s ; bay gelgmg syrs (medium draught) ,£47 , chestnut gelding 4-yrs (medium draught), £45 . bay gelding (>\is, (medium draught), £42 10s ; bay mare, syrs (light, small), £37 10s ; three \ery old honses at £6 10s c to £17 The Corstorphme draft was m -\ery low condition, but the stock was of good quality, and sold uncommonly well. Bay iilly, 4yrs old, £51 and two colts, the one three .Mvies old, and the other a year ylder at £39 t o £45 respectively. A number of other good draught horses, most of them six years old and upw.uds, changed hands as follows: — Bay gelding at £44 „ bay gelding at £10 . two bay gelding at £36 each, and se\eral \ery old horses £18 to £27. Three spnng-van horses sold well— one at £30, one at £33, and; one at £28. There was a splendid demand for Rood light harness horses, and every fresh, sound horse in the yard changed hands at splendid j prices. Some of the principal sa.es: wero as follows — Bay dog-cart horsa syrs, £28 , brown upstanding carriage gelding, 4>rs, by Tyrone, £25; six-year-old milk-cart mare, £26 ; and eight or nine useful harness hor-< ses at from £11 to £18 10s. Taken all round the sale was the most successful we have had for a very long time. The demand was keen for every description of horses, especially so where they were at all fresh and sound We quote : vSuperior young draught geldings, £50 to £54; extra good, pi lze horses, £55 to £60 medium drvaught mares and geldings,, £37 to £48 , aged do , £24 to £35 } upstanding carriage horses, £30 to £35 , well-matched carriage pairs, £70 to £90 , strong spring \nan horses, £28 to £36 ; milk-cart and butchers' order-rart horses, £lß to £27 , tram horses, £14 to £21 ;• light hacks, £10 to £15, extra good hacks, £lß to £25 ; weedy and aged hacks and harness horses, £3 to £8.
