Napier, September 4.— The C C and D. Company cable a general fall in values of all frozen meat, and prices ane expected to range lower owing to the hea\y stocks of New Zealand meat m London. Quotations are • Canterbury mutton, 3^d , Napier, Wellington, and North Island, 3|d ; lamb — first quality, 4£d , second do, 4gd London, September 5. — The wheat markets are steady but quiet The French are slightly lower, and American tending upwards No Australian cargoes are offering Wellington, September 8 —The Agent-General's cable, dated London, September 6, says : — ' The mutton market is weak, and the tendency seems to indicate a decline The shipments of mutton now arii\ing are very heavy During August there came from New Zealand 344,318 carcasses, and from the Argentine 311,328 carcasses. The average price to-day is — Canterbury mutton, 3fd ; Dunedm, Southland, and W.M.E. Company mutton, 2Jd , other North Island mutton, 3£d. The lamb market is quiet ; average price to-day New Zealand lamb (Canterbury hrand), 41 d to 43d The beef market is dull The supplies of River Plate beef arc increasing.
