The object of the Marist Fathers in this country, as in thei colleges in Europe and America, is to impart to their pupils a thoroughly Religious and a sound Literary education, whioh will enable them in after-life to disoharge their duties with honour to Religion and Society, and with credit and advantage to themselves Students are prepared for the N.Z. University Junior and Senior Civil Service, Medical Entrance, Solicitors' General Know* ledge, Bank and all other Public Examinations. not preparing for the learned Professions have the advantage of a Special Commercial Course, under efficient management, where they are taught all that will be of use in mercantile pursuits. Special attention is also paid to the teaohing of Physical Science, for which purpose the College possesses a large Laboratory and Demonstration Hall. Vocal Mußic, Elocution, Drawing, and 1 other branches of a Liberal Education receive due attention. Physical culture is attended to by a competent Drill Instructor, who trains the students three times a week in Drill, Rifle Practice, and Gymnastics. A large and well-equipped Gymnasium is attached to the College. The religious and moral training of the pupils is an object of special care, and particular attention is bestowed on the teaching of Christian Doctrine. A well-appointed Infirmary attached to the College is nnder the charge of the Sisters of Compassion, from whom in oase of ill* neßs all students receive the most tender and devoted oare, and who at all times pay particular attention to the younger and more delicate pupils, who without such care would find the absence of home comforts very trying.
