ADDINGTON MARKETS.

At the Addington markets, fafj cattle, of which 202 were yarded,, met with rather dull sale, with a downward tendency. Heifers brought £6 5s to £8, and up to £-9 5s for extra prime ; cows, £5 5s to £7 2s 6d, and up to £8 12s 6d for extra good. Store cattle showed a large entry, but a poor sale for young sorts. Fresh-conditioned and well-grown cattle were selling well ; yearlings, 25s to 27s ; 15 to 18 months, £1 12s to £2 16s ; two-year-old steers, £4 2s 6d to £5 2s 6d ; do heifers, £3 2s 6d to £3 9s 6d ; three-year-old steers, £5 15s ; do heifers, £5 15s ; dry cows, £2 to £3 10s; dairy cows (best), £7 to £9 ; others, £4 to £6. Of fat sheep 3700 were yarded,, mostly ewes and a number of NorthJ Island freezers. They were sold at a slight advance for the best, and ewes showed an improved sale, buti sold irregularly. A few prime heavy; wethers brought 18s 6d to 19s j best freezers, 15s to 17s; lighter ,J 13s t6 14s 6d ; best ewes, 12s 6d to, 14s 6d ; others, down to 6s 9d. Ordinary merino wethers sold at 7s 3di to lls ; prime, 11s 3d to 13s 6d. In fat lambs there were 2215 entered, mostly unfinished sorts, buti they met a good sale, considering the quality , 1256 were taken, fori export at 12s to 13s 6d, and 14s tor 14s 8d for extra prime ; 336 went to the butchers at 10s 4d to 13s 6d, and 150 to the graziers at 9s 6d to 10s 7d. Nearly 500 were passed in at 7s to 13s lid. Of store sheep 9295 were yarded, mostly wethers and ewes. The bulk were inferior sheep from the North Island and Marlborough, and a dull sale resulted in nearly half being withdrawn. A few forward wethers made lls 6d to 13s ; others, 8s lOd; good ewes, lls to 13s ; fair, 8s to 10s 6d ; others, 5s 6d to 7s 6d. Good lambs sold at 8s to 10s lid ; others, 4s 4d to 7s 6d. Pigs numbered 420, including a lot of unfinished sorts in fat pens. The fats were dearer, and good stores sold well for stubble purposes, baconers realising 36s to 545, or 3fd to 4d per 1b; porkers, 25s to 365, or 4d to 44 d ; large stores, 15s to 28s; smaller, 10s to 14s ; suckers and weaners, 5s to 9s.
