Napier, January 30.— Messrs Nelson Bros. (Limited), Tomoana, received the following telegram from the C.C. and D. Company, London, this'afternoon : — >' To-day's quotations are : Best Canterbury mutton, 3gd ; best Napier, Wellington and North Island, 3sd ; lamb — first quality, sdsecond, 4^d.' London, January 31.— Butter : The demand is improving, and there is an upward tendency. Colonial, 104s to 106s, some' asking 108s ; Danish, recovering, 109s to Ills. The Tongariro's cargo arrived in good condition. Cheese is firm, but unchanged. Rabbits are strong at 9d. The wheat markets are quiet. Continental is hardening, American is irregular, but closing firm. Cargoes are neglected. Victorian, near the coast, 30s 3d ; South Australian January and February shipments, 29s 9d. London, February 2.— Frozen meat — New Zealand lamb, mutton, and beef are unchanged. River Plate sheep declined 1-1 6 d. -Wellington, February 3.— The Agent-General's cablegram, dated London, February 1, states that there has been no alteration in the mutton market since last week. Lambs are dull. Australian lambs are in large supply. The new sea-" son's Canterbury brand, 5 l-16d. Beef firm. New Zealand hinds, 4fd; fores, 3|d. Butter firm ; 107s. Cheese steady ; 50s. Messrs. Donald Reid and Co. report as follows : There was a full attendance of buyers, and under fair competition the catalogue was cleared at valuations. Oats. — The demand for export is small, but the local trade is sufficient to take all arriving, prices being on about a level with late quotations. Quotations . Prime milling, 2s 6sd to 2s 7d ; good to best feed, 2s s£d to 2s 6d ; medium, 2s 3d to 2s 5d per bushel (sacks extra) . Wheat. — As already notified by advertisement, the terms on wheat are now altered. From the Ist February wheat is being sold sacks extra, and at a net cash price to the buyer. Prime milling lines continue to meet with good inquiry from millers, while other sorts are in good demand as fowl wheat. We quote : Prime milling, 3s 2d to 3s 3d ; medium and fowl feed, 3s to 3s Id ; broken and damaged, 2s 9d to 2s lid per bushel (sacks extra). Potatoes. — During the past week supplies were light, and prices advanced to £4 per ton. To-day consignments are heavier, and best early sorts sold at £3 2s 6d to £3 5s ; others, £2 15s to £3 per ton (sacks in). Chaff. — Prime oaten sheaf is in good demand. Medium quality is fairly plentiful, and meets with little inquiry. We quote : Prime oaten sheaf, £3 15s to £4 ; medium to good, £3 to £3 10s per ton^bags extra).

Cheese : Dairy, 4Jd ; factory, sd. Eggs, 9d. Onions : Melbourne, new, £6 10s.
