New Church at Dumbarton.
On May 4 the Right Rev. Bishop Maeuire, of Glasgow, laid the foundation stone of the new edifice for St. Patrick's con^regatio i. Dumbarton. Their present chapel has long been inadequate to accommodate the worshippers, with the result that five services ate oonducted every Sunday. The building now in course of construction, which ia situated ii Strathleven Place, is estimated to c st £12,000 and will seat 1200 people. It will be a handsome addition to the architecture of the town. It is in the early English Btyle, and is being: built of red sandstone from DumfneH. Ihe occasion was marked by an imposing procession parading- the streets, composed of the adult scholars of Patrick's School, members of the various religious orders and friendly societies, iuoluding contingents of the Irish National Foresters from Ht lensburgh, Renton, Alexandria, Clydebank, Duntocher, and Glasgow. After the usual presentation of mallet and trowel, the Bishop laid and blessed the stone.
