New York Catholic Orphanages.

Through the sale of the buildings and sites of the Boys' and Girls' Catholio Orphanages in New York City a sum of £710,000 has been realised, sufficient to build larger and greatly improved orphanages, and to leave a fund to adequately and permanently endow them. Hitherto the Orhanages have been dependent on the charity of the Faithful of New York and Archbishop Corrigan has announced that there will be no more appeals on behalf of these Orphanages. Early Masses for Workers. A largely signed petition has been sent from New York to Rome, praying for permission to oeltjbrato a Mass before sunrise on Sundays and holidays of obligation. If permission is granted, it is proposed to celebrate the Mass in St. Andrew's Church, in Duane street. A census taken by the rector of St. Andrew's proves that this early Mass will be attended by large numbers of Catholics working in newspaper offices, and other all-night employments.
