ORMONDVILLE.
(From our own correspondent.) The annual social in connection with the Ormondville Catholic Church was held on June sth, the Rev. Father Cahill presiding. The weather was perfect, the attendance very large and representative, and the music and refreshments were all that oonld be desired. After the concert the chairman thanked all who had helped to make the entertainment so enjoyable, especially their kind and talented friends who had come all the way from Waipawa — Mr. MoGreevy, sen., and his party, the Misses Boyle (2), and the Misses Moroney (2), Mr. and Mrs. Bennett, Miss H. Flynn, and Mr. J. Cosgrove. Mr. B. Collinge, Miss N. Twohy, and Messrs. Franklin, O'Connor, and Fitzgerald also took part. Mies Moroney (piano) and Mr. Cosgrove (cornet) supplied the music. The affair was a record for the district, socially and financially, the proceeds amounting to £23. 'The several performers,' says the Hawkes Bay Herald report, 'seemed to surpass themselves, and the only regret about the whole affair was that it only happens once a year.' The Catholics of the district feel quite delighted with the suocess of their efforts.
