DIOCESE OF DUNEDIN.

The devotion of the Forty Hours Adoration begins at the Sacred Heart Church, North-Bast Valley, on Friday morning and will conclude on Sunday evening. The Feast of Corpus Chrsti was observed with Fxposition, procession, and the other usual solernni iesat St. Joseph's Cathedral. There were large congregations at all the Masses. The members of the Catholic Men s Social Club held an open meeting on Friday to which ladies were invited. The attendance was very large, and went to show the value of such gatherings in bringing together the Catholics of the city in social intercourse. Towards the close of the evening the Rev. Father Murphy thanked the committee for having provided such an excellent evening's entertainment, and announced that at the next meeting a special musical programme would be presented. At St. Patrick's Basicila, South Duneuin, on Thursday (the Feast of Corpus Christi) there were large congregations at both Masses, and a goodly number approached the Holy Table On Sunday after High Mas« there was Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. and the members of the various religious associations attended in large numbers throughout the day. In the evening there was a procession in the church, which was numerously attended the school children, Confraternities of the Sacred Heait and Chi'dren of Mary taking part. The Rev. Father Coffey preached an el< uuent discourse appropriate to the occasion. The programme selected by the committee oi the South Duntdin Catholic Literary Institute for the meeting he'd on June 1.5 consisted of musical selections, song-, recitations, etc. In the hb-euce of the rev. president, Mr. Marlovv occupied the chair. The Rt v. Father Delaney was present, and gave some wholesome advice as to the great bent tit to be derived by members attending the meetings regularly. Mr. Bruton and sons rendered some very acceptable selections on the clarionet. flute, and piano, songs were given by Measrs. Mullin. Dee. Sheehan. Prender^ast, McCurdy. and Fitzpatrick ; recitations and readings by Messrs. Dee and OConnell; and a violin solo by Mr. O'Connor. An original piece by Mr' McCurdy entitled -British t<r.,,, English.' was dehv<r<.d in \ery good style. The various items were will received, and a plea-ant evening was spent.
