WAIMATE.

(From a correspondent.) Jaue 12. The devotion of the Forty Hours' Adoration began in St. Patrick's Church, Waimate, on Sunday last, •when Solemn High Mass was celebrated by the Rev. Father O'Connell. The choir, under the conductorship of Mr. Goldstone, sang Farmer's Mass in a manner which would do credit to a larger centre. Great credit is due to Mr. Goldstone for his untiring 1 energy and the great interest he takes in the choir, and to the organist, Mrs. J. Walsh, of Hannaton, who thinks nothing of coining six miles to attend a choir practice. After Mass there was a procession through the church, and the Blessed Sacrarr en t was afterwards exposed for adoration. In the evening there were Vespers, sermon and Benediction. The congregations at both morning and evening services were very large. The sermon on Monday evening was preached by the Rev. Father Aubry. The devotion was brought to a close on Tuesday morning with Solemn High Mass, which was celebrated by the Very Rev. Dean Bowers, Rev. Father O'Connell deacon, and Uev. Father Aubry sub-deacon.
