There were fair jardin^s in most classes of stock at Addingtonand business in most departments, especially sheep, was brink. The entries comprised 2UOO fat .sheep, 30(Ji> fat lambs, 04 70 store sheep. 2'.»7 cattle, and 23s pigs.

Fvi Cattle — A laige proportion of the 169 fat cattle were good to prime heifers and some nice lines of steers. Bidding was fairly brisk, and a good clearance was made, last week's rates being fully upheld, viz., 1^ to Ills Gd for prime, 1 ~>s to 17s for good, and down to 12s Gd tor inferior. Per head, best steers brought L 7 15s to LS 1 7s Gd ; light, L.I 2s Gd to L 7 .Is , bept heifers, LG 10s to L 7 2s 6d ; lighter, down to Lt 2s ; prime cows, KG 10s to L 7 12s Gd; others, down to L 3 17s <>d. There was nothing quotable in either store or dairy cattle.

Fat Sheep — A medium yarding of fat sheep, the bulk of which were ewes, and all classes met a keen demand. Heavy weight wethers brought up to 10s 7d, freezers (mixed sexes) 13s !»d to 13s. Butchers' ewes sold at all prices from Ds to 13s 3d, according to age and quality.

Lam vs — With the exception of a few lines of extra prime and freezers, the quality of the lambs was not so good. There was a good demand for all sorts. Extra prime sold at up to 14a Gd ; freezing quality, 11s <">d to 13s '.»d ; and lighter, down to 9s 6d.

Stoke Sheei' — The entry of ttore sheep was a mixed one, and owing to the late rains a rihe was noticeable in all clashes, graziers being anxious to secure lots. A line of 1135 wethers brought 13s to 13a Od ; 10.1 sold at 13s .Id ; 11.) at 12s 9d ; and 30 at 13s Gd. A line of four-tooth ewes was withdrawn at 13s 9d, and the rest of this class were cleared at 10s Gd to 12a 3d, according to age. The keenest competition was manifested for lambs, and prices showed

an advance. The principal sales were lines of 900 at 10s 9d, and 740 at the same price. Other lines of forward sorts sold at from 10s .Id to ]]*, and backward sorts realised 8s 6d to 9a 9d. I'hjs — There was a small entry, and a rather better sale resulted. Baconers sold at from 3d to 3J-dperlb, and porkers 3 £d to Id. Per head, baconers brought 30s to 35s Gd ; porkers, 20s to 30s Od ; stores, 17s Gd to 22s Gd ; and weaners, 9s Gd to 14s 6d.
