THE TROUBLE WITH THE WATCH.
' I wish you would tell me wh.it is the matter with this watch 1 said the customer, passing it over the counter. ' It stops occasionally and you have to shake it hard to make it go, don't you ? ' inquired the jeweller, after he had examined the timepiece with the aid of an eye-glass. ' Yes.' ' Sometimes you have to open it and start the balance wheel with a toothpick or something of that kind ? ' • Yes.' ' Perhaps you don't blow through the works to get the dust out as often as you should 1 ' 1 I've done that dozens of times, and it doesn't seem to do any good.' ' What really ails the watch is that it has a fool for an owner/ said the jeweller. This, however, was the remark he made to himself. What he said to the customer was that it needed about five dollars worth of repairs.
