DUNEDIN HORSE SALEYARDS.

Messrs. Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report as follows :—

The number of horses forward this week was not great — about 40 head altogether, made up of a couple of first class six or seven-year-old heavy draft geldings (the one sold for L4B 10s and the other for L 46), half a dozen medium draughts, a score of useful light harness horses, and 10 Shetland ponies. As already indicated the heavy draughts sold at big prices, The medium draughts, however, commanded less attention, and were all but passed in. Most of the lighter harness horses changed hands at quotations, and for the Shetland ponies there was a good competition at prices varying from L 4 10s to L 6 15s. We quote : First-class young draught mares and geldings at from L 45 to LSO ; good do, L3B to L 45 ; medium, L3O to L 35 ; aged, LlB to L 23 ; upstanding young springcarters, at from L 25 to L3O ; good do, LJB to L 23 ; light harness horses, and hacks, first class, at from LI Bto L 25 ; ; good do, LI 4to LI 7 ; medium, L 8 to Ll2 ; aged and weedy sorts, L 2 to L 5.

NEW ZEALAND EXPORTS The export of butter ia November was valued at L 81,44 8; cheese at L 6 214 ; frozen beef, L 18,648 ; and mutton, L 119,647.

WOOL, SKfNS, TALLOW, ETC.

Napier, December 6. — The first wool sales of the season were held to-day ; 2,500 bales were catalogued, and there was a large and representative attendance of buyers. During the morning bidding was very brisk. Linoln crossbred averaged 3d a pound more than last year, and, up to noon, the highest price realised for greasy halfbred was 11

London, December 6. — At the wool sales the ' Matamata ' clip realised 9Jd.

At the tallow sales 1850 casks were offered, and 1625 sold. Fine mutton, 28s ; medium, 26s 9d ; fine beef, 26s 9d ; medium, 25s 6d. ■

London, December 7. — At the wool sales the ' Elderslie ' clip sold at 18jd. The wool sales have been again postponed owing to the fog. London, December 8. — The Bradford wool market is very firm. Common sixties, 31d ; supers, 32Jd. London, December 9. — At the wool sales yesterday bidding was less spirited. Prices were unchanged. The Argentine wool clip is estimated at 225,000 tons and the Argentine exportable wheat surplus at 2,000,000 tons. London, December 10. — The wool market ia nery firm. Up to date for the present series 88,415 bales have been catalogued, and 85,194 sold.

London, December 11.— The wool sales closed with prices fully 5 per cent, above the opening rates. Melbourne, December 12.— At the wool sales prices of greasy and croßßbreds were well maintained. Greasy sold up to 16d, orossbreds to 15£<i.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) have received the following cable from their London office : — ' Wool : The sales closed firmly this day. Since close of last sales greasy merino is 20 per cent, dearer and greasy crossbred 25 per cent, dearer ; nearly all descriptions have advanced 3d per lb. Other descriptions unchanged.'

WELLINGTON WOOL SALES.

At the opening wool sales of the season on Friday 2500 bales were catalogued. There was a large attendance of buyers from all parts of the Colony, and competition was brisk. The advance in prices at the London sales was fully reflected. The advance as compared with last year was about 3d per lb on fine crossbred wools, and Id to l£d on coarse. Some of the prices "were such as have not been obtainable here for years. The range of values current to-day was as follows : — Fine half bred, 10 Jd to llfd per lb ; fine crossbred, 8d to lOd ; clean, coarse wools, 7d to 8d ; logstained wools, 5d to 6d ; first pieces, 5d to 6*d : bellies, 4d to sid : looks, 2d to 3d.

Messrs. Stronach Bros, and Morris report as follows :—: — Rabbitskins — Very few offering, and prices unchanged. Sheepskins — Market very firm, and all offering meet with a keen demand at late quotations. Wool — The first sale of the season takes place on Thursday, 21st inst., when big prices are expected Wool for this Bale thould reach us not later than Tupsday, 19th inst Hides — In good demand. Prime heavy ox, 3Jd to 4sd ; medium, 3d to 3Jd ; light and inferior, lfd to 2fd per lb. Tallow— Market steady. Best rendered mutton, 15s to 17s ; medium, 13s 6d to 14s 6d ; rough fat, 10s 6d to 12s per owt.
