INVERCARGILL PRODUCE MARKET.
The Invercargill Grain Brokers' Association reports that the oat market shows little changs Bince last week, being still rather quiet. A grade, are offering at 2s, f.0.b. ; B grade, Is Hid ; O grade, Is lid (sacks included). Invercargill prices current:— Wholesale: Butter, fresh, 5d ; eggs, 7d per doz ; cheese, farm, 3Jd ; bacon, farm, 7d ; do (rolled), farm, 6d ; hams, 8d ; potatoes, LI 103 per ton ; barley, 2s to 2s 6d ; fowl wheat, 2s ; chaff, L 2 per ton ; flour, L 8 ; oatmeal, L 9 to LlO ; pollard, L 3 ; bran, L 2 10a, including bags. Retail— Fresh butter, 7d; eggs, 9d per doz ; cheese, 6d ; bacon, rolled, Bd, sliced, 9d; hams, lOd ; potatoes, 2s per cwt ; flour, 2001 b, 15s ; 501 b, 4s 3d ; oatmeaL 501 b, ss ; 251 b, 2a 9d ; pollard, 5s 9d per bag ; bran, 3s 6d per bag ; chaff, L 2 10s per ton ; fowls' feed, 2s 3d per bushel. Messrs. Stronach Bros, and Morris report as follows :—: — Wheat — Dull market, no enquiry. Quotations : Milling, 2a 7d to 2a 9d for prime sorts ; medium, 2s 5d to 2s 6d ; fowl wheat, 2s to 2s sd. Oats— Nothing doing meantime. Prime milling, to Is lOid : good to best feed, to Is 9d ; medium, Is 6d to Is Bd. Chaff— Values rather easier. Prime, L 2 13s ; good, L 2 10s to L 2 12s 6d ; medium, L 2 to L 2 7s 6d. Potatoes— Heavy supplies. Best Derwents, 15s to 20s per ton. Messrs. Donald Reid and Co. report as follows :—: — Oats— There being no buyers present for the class of oats offered we passed those catalogued. During the past week there has been very limited business done. Owing to scarcity of freight it is doubtful if much could be done at reduced prices, and at present holders are firm at late values. We quote : Good to best feed, Is 9d to Is lOd ; medium, Is 7Jd to Is BJd ; inferior, Is 6d to Is 7d per bushel (sacks extra). Wheat— The market for prime milling in quiet at late quotations. To-day we offered medium to good whole fowl wheat, which sold at 2s to 2s 5d per bushel (sacks in). Potatoes— The supply is more than sufficientfor requirements, and on account of the stagnant state of the market we would advise clients not to make further consignments at present. We quote : Best Derwenta, 15s to 20s per ton (sacks in). Chaff— The quantity forward, although not excessive, is fully equal to requirements, and prices to-day show no improvement. We quote : Prime oaten sheaf, L 2 10s to L 2 12s 6d ; medium to good, L 2 to L 2 7s 6d per ton (bags extra). Mr. F. Meenan, King street, reports :— Wholesale price onlyOats : Quiet. Feeding, Is 8d to Is 9d ; milling, Is lOd. Wheat : milling, 2s 6d to 2s 9d ; fowls' wheat, 2s 2d to 2s sd. Hay : ryegrass and clover, best, L 3 ss. Straw : pressed, 22s ; loose, 28b. Bran : L 3. Pollard : L 3 ss. Flour : L 7 to L 7 10s. Butter : best brands factory, lOd to lid; dairy, 6d to Bd. Oatmeal: LlO. Potatoes : well picked, good sample, 20s ; old stock from Is per bag. Chaff : much easier demand ; L2ssto L 2 15s.
