RETURNING TO THE FOLD.
From New York comes the rumour that Mr. William K. Vanderbilt, jun., who recently married Miss Virginia Fair, is going to be received into the Catholic Church.
Mr. E. Thorpe, household steward at Lord Cloncurry's, Lyons, Hazlehatch, Ireland, has become a Catholic. He has been received at the parish church of Kill, County Kildare. Mrs. Dowdeswell, widow of the late Mr. W. E. Dowdeswell, of Pull Court, Worcestershire, who was M.P. for many years for West Worcestershire, was received into the Church on the Feast of the Assumption.
The Rev. F. W. Adams, formerly of St. Paul's Episcopal Church Pamona, California, has been received into the Catholic Church in that city by Rev. P. J. Fischer, pastor of St. Joseph's, in the presence of a large congregation.
The Rev. C. W. de Lyon Nichols, who has been assistant at St. Luke's EpUcopal Church, New York, for some years, sent a letter to Bishop Potter recently (says the New York Herald) announoing his conversion to the Catholic Church.
We (Catholic Times') learn that Mr. Stewart Coats, of the 'Coats's of Paisley, 1 the millionaire thread manufacturers, hac recently been received into the Church by Father Sydney Smith, S.J. He was confirmed by Bishop Turner at Ayr. Mr. George M. P. Bowns, a former preacher in the Methodist Episcopal Church, who became a convert to Catholicism a little more than a year ago, has been enrolled among the students of the College of St. Thomas Aquinas, Washington, to undertake a course of preparation for entering the Catholic priesthood, with the ultimate intention of joining the Congregation of the Paulist Fathers, in whose church he was converted.
