EASTER MONDAY AT OAMARU.

Foil the fifth time the Oamaru Hibernian Society has made its mark with a singularly successful 6ports meeting. The programme was a particularly varied and attractive one, and the day was signalised by the lowering of the local 75 Yards Sheffield Handicap to eight seconds. The handicapper did his v* ork right well, and the public testified heartily to the excellence of the programme submitted for their enjoyment. Everything was admirably carried out. The excessive pressure on our space this week precludes the possibility of publishing the results of the sports in detail. The corcert in the evening was a signal success both artistically and financially. It was greeted by a full and enthusiastic house. The first part of the programme consisted chiefly of songs, which were given by Mr. P. Carolin (encored), Miss Morrison (encored), Mr. B. G. Stevens (also recalled), and Miss Poison »nd Mr. Turtill, both of whose contributions were re-demanded. The accompaniments were played by the Mis?es Morrison, M. Duggan, and Piper. The second part of the programme consisted of the farcical comed|V ' The Irish Attorney,' played by the same cast of clever amateur** who staged the piece with such marked success at Dunedin on St. Patrick's night. The piece went through from beginning to end with a fine swing, and was right heartily enjoyed by the great audience present.
