INTERCOLONIAL.
The Very Rev. Father Le Rennetel, S.M., of St. Patrick's, Sydney, was tendered a public reception at the Federation Hall on February 6, on the occasion of his return from Europe. It was originally intended to charter a steamer and have a reception at the heads on the arrival of the Ville de Ciotat, but as it was uncertain when the mail boat would arrive this was abandoned. It will be remembered that Father Le Rennetel left Sydney for Europe about the end of May last, in company with the late Father Cummings of Christchurch and Father Tierney, M.S H, After a musical programme had bf en gone through Mr. \V. J. Spruson, M.P , in the course of a brief address, welcomed Father Le Rennetel back to St. Patrick's and hoptd it would be a long time before he would leave them j'gjin. Mr. Healy. on behalf of the congregation, presented an illuminated address of welcome, to which Father Le Rennetel, in a happy speech, replied. Very Rev. Father Aubrey, Superior of the Marist Fathers in Australasia, also spoke. A picnic and programme of sports were held at Botany, Sydney, recently for the purpose of assisting to raise funds to erect a monument in the memory of the men of 98. The proceedings were very successful, fully 30000 people being present, The takings, amounted to iibout 1:^0, sothut now the committee have close on JCIGOO on hand.
