THE SPANISH AMERICAN WAR.
Nothing of much interest has occurred since our last issue concerning the Spanish-American war. A recent cable from Washington states that, yielding to public pressure, President M'Kinley will appoint a commission to inquire into the alleged mismanagement of the war department by the secretary, Mr. Alger. The Cortes at Madrid has adopted the peace proposals.
