Dunedin Horse Saleyakds. Messrs. Wright, Stephenson and Co. report as follows :—: — With two or three exceptions the horses entered for Saturday's sale were dealers' lots, and not many of them were of saleable class. The attendance of the public was small, and the amount of business' insignificant. There is a dearth of really first-class young draught horse 9, and also of strong spring van and light harness sorts. For fresh country horses there is strong inquiry, the supply being quite unequal to the demand. Presumably many of our constituents are keeping back their horses for our annual winter fair, which takes place on 2nd and 3rd June proximo. The entries in the draught horse section already number 130 head of really first-class Clydesdale
mares and geldings from the leading breeders in Otago and Southland. On Saturday, 28th inst., at Oamaru (in conjunction with the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company), we will sell, without reserve, 30 magnificent Clydesdale mares and geldirgs for Mr. Edward Menlove, of Windsor Park estate. We quote : First-class young draught mares and geldings, £33 to £40 ; good do, £28 to £33 ; medium draught mares and geldings, £20 to £23 ; aged do, £12 to £18 ; first-class hack and light harness horses, £18 to £23 ; good do, £12 to £17 ; medium do, £7 to £10 ; aged and inferior, £2 to £5.
