A procession took place afterwards, in which the confraternities and the children joined. Rev. Father Croke bore the Blessed Sacrament under a canopy. The Marist Brothers and the children i formed round the altar rails and sang the hymn '• Blcßsed Benedicts. He also preached ia the evening, when there was a

procession, in which the various societies took part. There was a large congregation. Rev. Father Launuzel, who is suffering from serious illness, is staying at St. Patriot's Presbytery, where he is receiving every attention. Rev. Father Hackett was in town last week on important diocesan business. The Marist students are making great preparations for their approaching dramatic entertainment to be given at the Onera House. * A meeting was held last Thursday night in connection with the 98 celebration. It was decided that the celebration in Auckland should compr.se a solemn Rrquk-m Mass at the Cathedral on the Ist of June and subsequently a oonversazlone, Mr. William Tole has been re-elected president of the Catholic Literary Society.
