Quotations for prime milling Tuscan and velvet, 4s 2d to 4a 4d ; northern, a shade more ; medium to good. 3s 8d to 4s ; inferior, 2s 9d to 3s 6d (ex store, Backs in, terms). Oats — Sales are confined to small lots for local consumption, shippers are not buying at the moment and late rates are not now obtained, though a reaction is confidently looked for before long. Sellers are holding best milling for 2s 3.Jd to 2s 4d ; best short feed, 2s 2jd to 2s 3d ; medium, 2s 2d to 2s 2Jd ; inferior, Is itd to 2s Id ; small lots for seed, 2s 5d to 2s 7d (ex store, sacks extra, net). Donald Reid and Co. report that prices ruled as under at their auction sale on Monday :—: — Oats — Most of those catalogued were medium to good feed sparrowbills. which were quitted at 2s I£d to 2s 3d per bushel (sacks extra). For shipping lines there is at present little inquiry, and sales cannot be forced except at a reduction on late quotations. Wheat — We submitted a quantity of good whole fowl wheat. Bidding wa> fairly active and all offered was cleared at 3s to 3s (id per bushel (sacks in). Barley — Two lines of feed quality offered and sold at 2s 8d per bushel (sacks extra). Potatoes — The demand was good and for prime Derwents appears likely to strengthen. We offered medium quality, which sold readily at L 3 t > L 3 5s per ton (sacks in). Sheepskin, Rabbitskin, Hair and Hide Merchants, report : — Rabbitskins— Owing to the small quantities coming in and the evident signs of going off season of the better grades, there was a slightly improvcl competition for winters with the result that on the average & \d advance was obtained. Lower qualities remain firm at former quotations, viz., suckers and runners, up to 3.Jd ; racks, 3.Jd to od ; autumns, 5d to 8d ; incomings, 8d to Ud ; winters, lOd to 12^d for the best. Hair continues firm and in instances of extra prime lots a \i advance was obtained. Hides continue in demand and prices remain unchanged. Beeswax — We have had some small inquiries tor this and are open to buy.

Messrs. Stjionach Bros, and Morris report as follows :— Fat Cattle— l 43 head yarded. There was a brisk demand and prices showed an advance of 10s compared with last week. Best bullocks sold at LS to L'J 7s tid ; medium. Lli to L 7 los ; small, L 4 10s to L.l 1 7s (Jd ; best cows. L.I :>s to L 7 2s M ; others, L 3 :>s to L.">. Fat Sheep— 2640 penned, prices being fully Is lower than last week. Best crossbred wethers fetched lls to Kis 3d ; me him. 11s ltd to 13s (id : light, its to 1 Is ; best crossbred ewes, 10s <Jd to 12s (id ; medium. Ss 3d to !>.s ltd ; inferior, 7s to Bs. We sold for the Maraeweka Estate crossbred wethers at 13s to 11s 6d, and for the Five Rivers Estate (Southland) halfbred wethers at quotations. Lambs— r>7.-> penned. There was a good demand for freezers, but others were dull of sale. Best lambs fetched 9s 6d to 11s 6d ; medium, 7s to 9s. We sold 75 for Mr. R, Mitchell (Portobello) at Gs 9d. Pigs — 213 penned. Competition was very keen and prices were greatly in favour of sellers. Suckers fetched 8s to 12s ; slips, 14s to 1 7s : stores, 1 7s fid to 22s (id ; porkers, 26s to 32s (xl ; light baconers 34s to 38s ; heavy do, 40s to 61s. Rabbitskins — There is a very brisk demand for all sorts and prices are very firm.
