DUNEDIN HORSE SALEYARDS.
Messrs. Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report as follows :—: — The attraction for Saturday's sale was an importation of 33 useful draught horses — many of them having a strain of Suffolk Punch blood in them — from New South Wales, whence they had been brought over by Mr. James Hegarty. Considering that they were only landed from the Talune late on Friday night they looked
fairly well, bat the effects of the voyage were apparent upon a good many all the same. Being all young and of a class suitable for ploughing or for van or spring work there was a brisk demand, and a very satisfactory sale was the result, almost every animal in the consignment being sold at prices, varying from LI3 to L 25. Very few other horses were offered, and in consequence outside the Sydney lot not much business was done. We quote : — First-class heavy young draughts at from L3O to L 35 (extra heavy a pound or two more) ; medium, L 22 to L 27 ; aged, LIS to L2O ; hacks and strong carriage horses, LI S to L2O ; good spring-cart sorts, Lll Lls ; light hacks, L 7 to LIO ; inferior, L 2 to Lo.
