TEARING OFF THE MASK. TO THE EDITOR N.Z. TABLET. Sib, — Whatever doubts may have existed in the minds of the general public as to the connection existing between Freemasonry in the Colony and that on the Continent of Europe must have been completely dispelled by the report of proceedings at Invercargill last week. The N.Z. Grand Lodge unanimously decided to join themselves with the infamous Adrian Lemmi, of Rome, whose crimes and misdemeanours have been so trenchantly exposed by the Catholic Press throughout the world. A number of reverends figured in the report of the Invercargill proceedings, who must now feel a little uncomfortable that their names have been connected with that of the notorious high priest of Satan-worship. The Grand Orient has not changed its objects or ultimate ends in the least. Its ratio cjeistendi is the abolition of Christianity, and the poor dupes in the colonies who are led to join the Freemasons should in reason try to get a hold of some of the public pronouncements of the infidel and atheistic lodges on the Continent, before they blindly tie themselves by oath to obey the behests of men whose motto is identical with that of Voltaire : '• Ecrascz Vinfume" '• Wipe out the infamy of Christianity ."

[t is to be hoped that some of the God-fearing Protestants of New Zealand who have hitherto regarded Masonry as nothing but a friendly society may see now how easily they can be made the tools of designing knaves, and may show their disapprobation of this latest outrage. — I am, etc., Veritas.
