HAWERA.

(From an occasional Correspondent.) The bazaar in aid of the convent fund eventuated last week, but was not as successful as those held formerly, probably owing to the bad weather. It was opened on Tuesday night by Mr. F. McGuire, M H.R., and hi.s Worship the Mayor (Mr. H. W. Sutton), both of whom spoke in the highest terms of the great amount done by our beloved pastor. Very Rev. Father Mulvihill. After the opening business began in real earnest. On the right hand side of the hall was situated the Children of Mary's stall, presided over by Mrs Whitaker. On this stall was displayed a large amount of fancy work of various kinds. The assistants Mrs. Whitehouse, Missea Meacham Flynn (4), Thompson, O'Connor, Sutton, Bennett, Espagne, Connell, Whitaker, Connor and Lawler. The other stall was managed by Mrs. Coffey and was also well filled with articles both useful and ornamental. The assistants at this stall were Mrs Major, Misses Haughey, McMennamin (2), Kennedy, Bunbury,' Corbett, Vash, Carngan, Lutjens, Hughes and O'Xeill. The temperance bar wasm the hands of Mesdames Wilkinson and Lucena, and the Ascot Race under the management of Misses Price and Maud Coffey appeared to be doing good business. The refreshment stall was under the supervision of Mesdames Gomer. Graham. King and Miss King. Each night attractions were offered in the way of music by Misses Cowern. Kennedy, Espagne and Master Hutchens, the pupils ot St. Jo>eph s Schools and the Hawera Private Band. Thanks are due in great measure to the following gentlemen who assisted very materially :— Messrs. Russell. Maher, Haughey. Bartlett and T Cofrey. On Sunday morning Very Rev. Father Mulvihill thanked' heartily all who had worked for the success of the bazaar. The receipts so for amount to iil(i.").
