PALMERSTON NORTH,

(From an occasional correspondent.) THB Forty Hours' Adoration commenced on Sunday last at St. Patrick's, Palmerston North, and ended on Tuesday morning. The Mass of Exposition was sung by Rev. Father Paterson, and on Monday evening the Very Rev. Father Grogan of Napier gave an eloquent and most instructive sermon on " Faith " to a large congregation. The procession on Sunday passed round the church attended by the choir, the Children of Mary and the children of the school. Sunday was all that could be desired as to weather, and the effect ontside the church was very impressive As the passers-by noticed the banners streaming in the morning sun and the voices blending with one another, those of the adult's with the children's it gave a lovely effect, and edified many non-Catholics who were present. During the days of exposition the church was well attended with devout worshippers from B a.m. until 10 p.m., and on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday mornings very many approached Holy Communion. The decorations were all that could be desired. Great improvements have been made to the interior of the church. The seats have been remodelled and the lighting has been vastly increased in power.
