A long root — " I want yer to take out this confounded tooth of mine," said an Ulsterman to a dentist. Tbe man sat down and in a short time the dentist had his instrument applied to the offending tooth. But every time he was about to pull it the patient abut his mouth. The dentist, calling his assistant, whispered to him to get a pin and go quietly behind tbe chair, and posh the pin right into th-calf of the man's leg. Uttering a loud yell of pain, the man opened his month wide. Taking advantige of the opportunity the (!entis- gave one pull, and out flow the tooth. After the pain had somewhat abated, ihe man, not in the leaet suspecting the trick said, rubbing tbe ctlf of bis leg : "Lor, but that tooth o' mine had* a thremendoua long root."
