The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report for the week ended March 31 as follows : — Wheat— The markat is void of any *nimation. Only a hand to mouth business being done. We quote— For prime milling velvet 3s 6d to 3s 7d ; medium, 3s 4d to 3s 5d ; red wheat and tuscan, prime* 3a 4d to 3s 5 i ; medium to good, 3s 3d to 3a 4i ; inferior, 2s 9d to Ss 2 i (ex etors, Backs weighed in, terms). OatB — There is no improvement to note, and the demand is limited. Quotations — For prime milli g, la 8d to la 9i ; best bright short feed, Is 6^d to Is 7d ; medium, la 6d to Is 6£d ; inferior, Is 44 to Is 5d (ex store, sacks extra, net). Barley — Maltsters are not showing very much desire to operate, and sales are only possible when the quality is extra prime. A considerable quantity of medium is now offering and very difficult to place. Quotations— For prime malting 3s 3d to 3a 6d ; extra do a shade more ; medium, 2a 6d to 3a ; inferior, 2s to 2s 3d (ex store, sacks extra, net). Grass Seeds — Market quief, stocks of ryegrass seed heavy. Quotation! for prime machine dressed, 3a 3 i to 3a 6J ; extra do, 3s 9d to 4s ; farmers' best dressed, 2a 61 to 2s 9d ; inferior to medium, Is 9d to 2s 3d (ex store, sacks extra, net). Cocksfoot : —Slow sale, say for best, 3£d to 4d ; medium, 2Jd to 3d per lb (ex store, sacks extra, net), Potatoes— Consignments being less extensive during the past week prices are firmer say for best derwents, L 3 to L 3 5a ; kidney* L 2 to L 2 10a per ton (ex store, sacks weighed in, net). ' Chaff— Prices this week are slightly firmer, say for best, L 2 10s to L 2 12s 61 ; good old, L 2 15s ; medium, L 2 to L 2 5a per ton (net •x truck, sacks returned). ' Sheepskins — Market very firm, beat green crossbreds fetching 2s 4d to 2s 8d ; extra heavy, 2a 9 i to 33 ; medium, Is 9d to 2a 3d • green lambskins, beet, 2a 9d to 3i l£i ; medium, Is 101 to 23 7d • inferior, 8d to Is 6i ; beet dry croasbreda, 4£ i to s|ii ; mcd am, 3d to 4d ; best do merino, 4J to 4| i ; medium, 2+d to ,'Hi per lb. We sold several lines specially su, table for seed, op to Is 9d ; prime milling, 1b 7Jd to Is 8.1 ; good to b-st feed, Is 6Jd to Is 7id per bushel (sacka extra). Wheat-There is no change to report and nearly all to hand has been quitted at late qiora ions. To-day we Bold good milling at 393 9 5£ ; fowl feed, 2a lid to 3, 3j per bushel, (sacks in). Barley-The demand for prime malting samples is stronger, but medium sorts are unchanged. We Bold pood malting at 3s to 3s 5i ; medium, 2s 7d to 2s lOd ; feed, 232 3 to 2s 3d per bushel (sacks extra) Potatoee-The market almost bare to-day, and tbe few offered realised L3toL 3 5i per ton (sacks in). In the face of fresh supplies coming forward this pi ice is not likely to be maintained. Chaff -The market is well supplied. Many consignments being of only medium quality, for which buyers are not quite so keen. We sold good oaten sheaf (new) at L 2 10a to L 2 13s ; medium, L 2 7s 6d per ton (b*gs extra).
