VISIT OF FATHER MALONE TO KERRYTOWN

(From, an occasional Oorreepordent.) Temuka, August 16, 1895. On Tuesday last the Bey Father Malone visited, by unanimous invitation, that portion of tbe parish, which, prior to his removal, was nnder his special care— Kerry town — where be received a most hearty welcome. To celebrate the occasion an impromptu concert and social was held in the evening in St Joseph's schoolroom, which was crowded* Prior to the opening of the programme Mr H. Hoare, in a few wellohosen remarks, stated that the entertainment had been got op on tbe ■pur of the moment in honour of Father Malonc, the pleasure of Whose company they bad that evening. He concluded with expressing the hope that Father Malone would pay many more visits to themThe programme was opened with an over are by Messrs H, aod B. Hoare and Miss Hoare (violins and piano), which was nicely renderedFather Malone followed with " A man's bast friend is his pocket," for which he was encored. Miss Stevenson gave " Shells of tbe Ocean " in a very pleasing manner. A humorous reading, by Father Malone, fairly brought down tbe house. Miss Hoare was very successful with the song " Happy be thy dreams," and then followed an exceedingly pleasing item, " The Musical Drill," by the pupiU of the school, Mr H. Hoare was loudly applauded for his singing of "No one like mother forme," Father Malone following with "A flower from my angel mother's grave." Tbe song, ton chorus of which was supported by the company, was encored. The chorus " Wrap me ap in my old stable jacket," by a company, brought the programme to tbe last item, " My Polly," which was rendered very nicely by Mesar B H. and H. Hoare (violins), Father Malone (piccolo), and Miss D. Hoare (piano). This concluded a most enjoyable programme. The Bey Father Malone, in a few well-chosen words, thanked tbe large aaditnee for their attendance, and the performers for the choice entertainment they had given him, and said it reminded him of old timeß to be with them once more.
