[We »re not responsible for the opinions expressed by our Correspondents.] + CONGRATULATORY. TO THE EDITOR OF THE NEW ZEALAND TABLET. SlB, — I was very pleased when I read the copy of the letter forwarded by yon to the London Echo and the Dublin Herald, appearing in your last week's issue, in defence of the lata beloved Bishop of Daoedin. Slander is on all occasions despised and avoided by honourable men 1 and the attempt of this so-called " Colonial " (?) to disparage the lair name of a great and good mm, calls for the heartiest condemnation of every right thinking person in the community. Such fllaaders, however, oa the pirt of such w<iter3 a 9 ' Colonial " (?) are as ridiculous as they are vicious, and recill vividly to the mind the old story of the great bravery of the live ass in the preaence of the dead lion. Consequently, I feel assured that your action will meet with the warm approval of not only the Catholic people of the Colony, but also with that of the many broad-minded and generons people, outside tho pale of the Church, whess respect and esteem for the late Dr Moran was manifested in so many touching ways on the occasion of oar Bad bereavement. Thanking you in anticipation, — I am etc., Musselburgb, sth August, 1895. James Eager.
